For this project, the client was seeking a delicate balance between creating a lush, calming outlook from the master bedroom while ensuring the space remained highly functional and suitable for a narrow boundary condition. The transformation required careful planning from the outset, including the removal of the existing deck and the delicate excavation of 300mm of soil by hand and bucket through a tight side passage.
Several design concepts were developed collaboratively, with the final direction centred around a floating bench seat framed by softly curved sunken garden beds. Tropical planting was selected to soften and enrich the space, creating a vibrant contrast against the rustic brick walls while complementing the clean architectural lines of the modern home.
