This Glebe deck repair job came to us via a level 5 rooftop garden in a relatively modern apartment block — built around 2015, but already showing serious structural failure beneath the deck surface. The culprit: untreated timber used throughout the original bearer and joist framework, which had deteriorated well beyond safe use and required complete replacement.
All bearers and joists were stripped out and replaced with correctly treated structural timber suited to the exposed rooftop environment. Where possible, we salvaged and relaid the original spotted gum hardwood decking — a beautiful, durable hardwood that had held up well and was worth keeping.
The finished deck sits neatly within a well-considered rooftop garden space, framed by garden beds and seating on both sides, all trimmed with clean powder coated edging. A solid repair that should outlast the building’s next decade with ease.
